Success before the Appellate Division
Our team at WMH successfully defended against an appeal heard in the Appellate Division (presided by the Honourable Woo Bih Li JAD, Honourable Debbie Ong JAD and Honourable See Kee Oon JAD)
At the appellate stage, the appeal focused specifically on the alleged existence of a cross share sale agreement between that of the shareholding of a Singapore incorporated company and those of two Malaysian public listed companies (comprising one of Malaysia’s biggest conglomerates (with a revenue exceeding RM 11 billion) in property development, palm oil, amongst other sectors).
Amongst other matters, the Appellate Division ultimately unanimously agreed that the appeal ought to be dismissed in its entirety as the appellant was “simply making an opportunistic attempt to lay claim to as many of [our client’s] assets as he can”.
Our team’s victory in this present appeal stemmed from its earlier success in the High Court WQR v WQS [2023] SGHCF 41 where the appellant had also failed in his claim for a share of matrimonial assets valued at around $15 million (with a total value exceeding $30 million).
Our team, both in the High Court and at the Appellate Division, was led by our Joint Managing Director Mr Mark Lee and Associate Director Ms Sarah Yeo.
