The Legal 500 – Asia Pacific Disputes Summit 2025

Our directors, Mr Mark Lee and Ms Sarah Yeo spoke at The Legal 500’s Asia Pacific Disputes Summit 2025.
We are honoured to have been invited for a second year running to host a main panel session for the Summit.
Featuring our “boardroomᵂᴹᴴ⁺” practice group’s specialisation in boardroom, shareholder and joint venture matters, where we spoke on the issue of shareholder activism at the previous Summit, this year, our directors spoke on the topic of “The Boardroom Trifecta: Directors’ Duties, Corporate Governance and Diversity”.
This year, it was also a privilege to be able to have Mr Owen Hawkes (KPMG, Partner and General Counsel (Singapore)) and Ms Kay Pang (Independent Director of Grand Banks Yachts (mainboard listed)) accept our invitation to join us for the panel session and adding to the depth of our discussions.
The panel session delved into the intricacies (and pitfalls) of directors’ duties under Singapore law, its interplay with the subject of corporate governance (i.e. raising of professional standards) and, finally, the impact of cognitive diversity in the context of boardroom compositions.
An excerpt from the The Legal 500’s Event Report:-
“The Legal 500’s Asia-Pacific Disputes Summit gathered leading legal professionals at Amara Hotel Singapore for a day of engaging panel discussions and meaningful networking opportunities. Offering practical insights into the evolving challenges faced by general counsel and in-house legal teams across the region, the summit focused on dispute resolution strategies, regulatory developments, and the transformative role of technology in legal practice.
…
Directors’ duties, corporate governance, and boardroom diversity were the focus of the next session, featuring Mark Lee and Sarah Yeo of WMH Law Corporation, Kay Pang of Grand Banks Yachts, and Owen Hawkes of KPMG Singapore. The panel provided insights into the evolving responsibilities of board members, regulatory expectations, and best practices for fostering effective leadership within corporate structures. …”
